How long have you been working with kids?
Being the eldest of 9, you could say I've worked with children almost all of my life, but I obtained Mt teaching degree foe elementary education in 1997, and had served in VBS as well. I was a private tutor for several years, and was employed as a support staff educator with troubled youth. I've been a substitute teacher from kindergarten through high school age students.

Why do you love working with kids?
Children are so inspiring! I never tire of the surprising and inspiring things they say. I love to be able to show the love of Christ by example. I appreciate every opportunity to pray for and with them.

Do you have any interesting facts or words of wisdom to share with the parents and kids?
I encouraged my daughters when they had their children, to always remember the young kiddos are not misbehaving to purposely hurt them; their big feelings are finding ways to be expressed. Parents leading by example  kindness, patience, listening, and unconditional love, can help their children know and feel they are safe in how they are feeling. And I also advised my daughters to pick their battles carefully. Not every frustration leads to trying to 'be right'.

Where do you work?  What are your hobbies?
I work at a candy store (Olympia Candy Kitchen), which is the 'sweetest' place! My hobbies: reading,  music, gardening, decorating, walking with friends, and spending time with my 3 children,  9 grandchildren, and my 2 great-granddaughters.
